Summerts

Last night, RB and I headed over to visit his friend Scott, whom we hadn't seen in a couple of months. We had dinner, chatted and later relaxed with a rolled dessert and headed home after 9pm. We got on the streetcar and headed East back to the City. As we were cruising along Queen St. West, we were marvelling at how much the neighbourhood had changed in the last 15 years. It was trendy and high-end funky boutiques were everywhere. As we passed the GAP, RB looked quizzically out the window.

RB: "What the hell are Summerts?"
Me (now looking out the window): "A what?"
RB: "What are Summerts?"
Me: "Where the hell are you looking?
RB: "Over there at the GAP."
Me: "I have no idea what your talking about."
RB: "Oh wait....ummm. forget it. (Starts laughing hysterically)
Me: "What?
RB: "Umm it said Summer T's"

I miss the old Queen St.
Where you'd stumble out of the seedy bar and straight into a peepuddle.
Where a dirty doorway grope was made more comfy by the piles of garbage.
Where you could drink yourself into a stupor and take a nap in an alley and wake up with a new friend.

;)

hahahah...cute...and endearingly clueless!

unfortunately, I suspect that the seedy Queen St was before my times, as I only remember it to be trendy and high-end funky...

I wouldn't have second guessed him. Fashion has funky names for some of their creations. When you first mentioned Gap and summerts, I was thinking a cross between jeans and swimming trunks.

That must've been some mean dessert ; )

Good for RB for being able to laugh at himself. I probably would have never admitted to my mistake.

Almost as good as the time I saw my friend's logo on his jacket -- Analog -- and thought it said Analdog. And I hadn't even had any dessert!

BWAHAHAHAH!!

about Queen street, I visited it the first time I was in Toronto back in 97,and then, just last October when we were there, I made the rounds again, and it had certainly changed.

Used to be very "bohemia-esque", but now, very commercial. I feel like it'slosing something.

Next time I'm there, it might just be Eaton Center West or something. :(

It is thursday! Where is the half nakedness?
I thrive of that, look forward to it all week.
Why do you toy with me?
Also when I saw that sign, I thought it said the same thing, and I was sober.

Dickey - Ah yes, the "Old" Queen street...lol...those were the days.

Pheebs - Your'e just a baby!

angel - Now that's a new one - jean-swimming trunks?

tornwordo - I'll bring some when I visit Montreal in the summer. How's that?

Snooze - We laughed our asses off. It's great laughing at yourself.

CoffeeDog - hmm...interesting. lol

Earthmother - lol. We all have our blonde moments don't we? :)

Polt - It's true. It has become very commercial over the years, but that is what happens to all Artsy areas.

NOAU - No, my dear. No nekkidness this time. ;p

Babsbitchin' - I love the little things.

Dantallion - ::wink:: Soon were gonna have burnette, brown or Black jokes, instead of Blonde.

Persian - You should, and see what oit comes up with.
